🏕️ Service Camp – Rashtrapati Scouts & Guides

The Service Camp for Rashtrapati Scouts & Guides is a crucial stage in the journey toward the Rashtrapati Award, the highest honour in Scouting and Guiding in India. These camps focus on intensive community service, leadership development, and advanced skill evaluation.

🎯 Core Components & Requirements

To qualify for the Rashtrapati Award, candidates must complete the following:

  • 🤝 Service Projects:
    Participate in community service activities for at least 36 hours over a minimum of two months, ensuring consistent weekly involvement
  • 🌍 Major Project Leadership:
    Plan, organize, and lead a major community development project in areas such as:
    • Health and hygiene
    • Environmental conservation
    • Literacy and education
    • Social awareness and savings initiatives
  • 📓 Log Book Maintenance:
    Maintain a detailed service diary/log book documenting all activities, to be submitted to the Court of Honour
  • 🏕️ National-Level Participation:
    Attend a national-level camp and complete a leadership training course

🧭 Testing Camps

Before receiving the award, candidates must attend State-Level Testing Camps:

  • ⛺ Nature of Camp:
    Typically 5-day residential camps conducted under canvas (tent-based living)
  • 📚 Evaluation Areas:
    Participants are tested on:
    • Advanced scouting skills
    • Proficiency badges (e.g., Disaster Management, Ambulanceman)
    • Leadership and teamwork abilities
  • 🎂 Eligibility Criteria:
    • Minimum age: 13 years 6 months
    • Must have completed 12 months of service as a Rajya Puraskar holder
